About IgniteAI

As Quinnipiac transitions to Canvas as our new learning management system, QILT and QU IT teams are evaluating, testing, and collecting feedback on various IgniteAI features. Instructure, the creators of Canvas, announced the education-focused IgniteAI ecosystem in July 2025 and has been rolling out various in-context AI features in the Canvas LMS. Since then, in partnership with our Instructure implementation teams and customer success manager, we have been engaged in conversations around making IgniteAI features available to all faculty for voluntary testing and use.

IgniteAI is a separate offering from Khanmigo, which remains available to instructors in Canvas.

This evaluation is not intended to promote the use of AI in teaching, or to suggest that faculty should adopt AI tools in their courses. Rather, our goal is to explore these tools carefully and determine whether and how they might support teaching and learning in a responsible, ethical, and student centered way.
The use of AI features in Canvas is covered under our broader agreement with Instructure. Unless indicated, IgniteAI features are available only to faculty and are not visible to students.
